THE GYMKHANA

The Megalong Bush Gymkhana has always been family affair - in terms of spectator sports and non-riding novelty events open to all comers. Whether you watch or participate there's plenty to do. The main emphasis on the day is of course, the horses. The events being run were developed by people who appraised a mount by the seat of their pants rather than by binoculars as the furious pace and tight turns of events such as the Barrel Race testify.

With the towering cliffs of Radiata Plateau above, the Megalong Valley Sportgrounds offer a fabulous backdrop for spectators. Megalong Valley boasts a long tradition of fine horsemanship which lives on to this day.

There will be something for every age and every interest at the Gymkhana with various food and drink options, Icelandic Horse demonstration, market stalls, licensed bar and of course the Woodchop! It will be held at the Megalong Valley Community Hall & Sportsground on Megalong Road. First riding events commencing at approximately 9am to finish before 5pm.

Around the Sportsground you will also find a children's playground, horse rides, local craft stalls, BBQ, campfire and Gymkhana history.
