HISTORY OF THE GYMKHANA

The Megalong Bush Gymkhana has always been a family day since the beginning back in the 1940's.

In the 1970's it was a horse event not to be missed. By 2001 it was known as being 'World Famous'!  (As Mary Shaw said it)

But unfortunately in 2002 event organisers were forced to cancel the Gymkhana until further notice.

2018 was the first relaunch of this event with a few more helmets, and a few more rules but just as much action packed fun! The event was a great success, and is now looking at continuing annually  in to the foreseeable future.

THE EVENTS

The Barrel Race shows what a horse and rider can do in terms of speed and manoeuvreability. The record of 17.5 seconds has stood since 1974.

The Iron Man and Golden Girl events are always a crowd favourite. Contestants are pushed to the limit and risk their dignity to pull off a win in the face of enthusiastic barracking!

The Woodchop has always been a large part of the Gymkhana since its beginnings. For the first time in over 20 years, the Gymkhana is excited to welcome back the Woodchop to the event.
