EVENTS
Flag Race:
5th flag to be taken first, then 4th, 3rd, 2nd and flag nearest drum last. If a flag is dropped it must be picked up immediately, then remount, and put flag in drum from the horse. If drum is knocked over, it must be stood up immediately before continuing on for next flag. If knocked over at finish, it must be stood up, rider remounted for the run to be
deemed finished.
Boot Race:
The rider leaves one of their boots at the opposite end of the starting point, rides up, unmounts, puts boot on and either rides or leads their horse back to the finishing line. Junior riders who are unable to remount by themselves may use a helper to remount, or may lead back.
Bending Race:
Start on left side of drum – pass on left side of 1st peg, then bend all other pegs, giving a right turn at the last peg. Finish on the left side of drum coming back. Rider disqualified if peg is knocked down or running a wrong course.
Sack Race:
Ride to opposite end of the starting point to sack. Place legs in sack. Jump back to finish line in sack leading your horse at the same time.
Apple Race:
Riders ride to the bucket, dismount, retrieve apple with mouth then return to the finish line. Hands must not be used at any time to help take apple from bucket or keep it in the mouth while riding to the finish line. Junior riders who are unable to remount by themselves may use a helper to remount, or may lead back. Helmets may be removed to retrieve apple, but must be re strapped for return ride, or may lead back without helmet re-strapped.
Barrel Race:
Either left or right course can be run. 5 second penalty for touching a barrel, knocking over a barrel. Riders disqualified for running a wrong course.
Keyhole:
The rider must have the horse inside the line and the horse must stop his forward motion before starting the race. Competitor rides down the lane turning inside the circle and returning down the lane. Time starts and stops upon entering and leaving the lane. Rider will be disqualified if a horse steps on or over the line.
Square Yard:
The aim of this event is to jump over the jumps and circle around the poles in a clover like pattern. Rider will be disqualified if jump or pole are knocked or for error in pattern.
Mega Kid/Wonder Woman/Iron Man:
A crowd favourite! The Mega Kid, Golden Girl & Iron man is a course run on foot and on horse. Contestants are put to the test. Last time each contestant had to;

Set & light fire – Sit billy in fire to start boiling

Disqualified if:

Your handler assists you in any way other than holding your horse (excluding juniors)

You deliberately miss an obstacle and do not re-attempt it. If, during Step 4 when you are riding your horse around the course, your horse baulks at an obstacle, you are permitted three (3) attempts at that obstacle, after which time you may proceed around the course. At each attempt you must circle your horse before reattempting.
The Judges’ decision will be finial and no correspondence will be entered into.
NOVELTY EVENTS
Tug of War
Two teams use their strength with the heavy rope to try and drag the opposing team across the line.
Whipcracking
BYO whip, and show us what you can do.. The crowd and judge will decide!
Fancy Dress
Dress you and your horse up then parade around in front of the judges. Be creative as no rules apply!
All ages welcome - riders can be led.
Mintie Man
A great one for the kids. The Mintie Man is covered in delicious Minties attached to his coat. He can run fast but if the kids catch him they can grab as many Minties as they can.
Egg Toss
Grab a partner, stand close and throw the egg. Each time you catch the egg without breaking it you both take a step back and throw again. The ones who get the furthest apart without breaking the egg win!
